UAFX Control Desktop App Manual

This article contains complete operating instructions for the UAFX Control desktop app.

The UAFX Control desktop app for macOS and Windows 10 is used to register UAFX pedals, get your free bonus effects, and install UAFX firmware updates. To get UAFX Control software, go here.

Note: The UAFX Control mobile app is used to change global settings such as bypass routing modes (true or buffered/trails) and right footswitch modes. The UAFX Control mobile app will be available Spring 2021.

 


System Requirements

  • Operating System:

    • macOS 10.14 Mojave, 10.15 Catalina, or 11 Big Sur 

    • Windows 10

  • Available USB port

  • USB-C cable (not included)

Note: The UAFX pedal’s USB-C port can be connected to any type of USB port on the computer, but you may need an adapter.

 


Installing UAFX Control

 

macOS:

  1. Download the app from https://uaudio.com/uafx/start.

  2. Double-click the downloaded UAFX_Control_1_0_0_75_Mac.dmg file. A macOS Finder window appears containing the UAFX Control app.

  3. Drag the UAFX Control app to your Applications folder.

Done! Launch the app and follow the on-screen instructions to register your pedal.

 

Windows:

  1. Download the app from https://uaudio.com/uafx/start.

  2. Extract the downloaded UAFX_Control_1_0_0_75_Win.zip file.

  3. Double-click the UAFX Control Setup.exe file.

  4. Follow the prompts to install the software.

Done! Launch the app and follow the on-screen instructions to register your pedal.

 


Registering your UAFX pedal

To register ownership of your pedal, use the UAFX Control desktop app for Mac/Windows or the mobile app for smartphones.* 

Any time the pedal is registered, the bonus effect(s) are added to your pedal. If the pedal is subsequently registered by a different user, registration is transferred automatically.

To register your pedal:

  1. After installing the application, launch UAFX Control.

  2. Log in with your uaudio.com account login and password, or click Create Account to create a uaudio.com account. After logging in, UAFX Control shows no pedals connected.

  3. Connect a UAFX pedal to your computer with a USB-C cable (not included). The USB-C port can be connected to any type of USB port on your computer, but you may need an adapter. Make sure the pedal is connected to 9VDC power (400 mA minimum). UAFX Control shows your pedal is connected.

  4. Click the Register Pedal button to register your pedal.
    The pedal is registered, and a notification appears that you have added the bonus effect. After registration is complete, you can disconnect the USB-C port.

Note: You should disconnect the USB-C port before playing through the pedal, as the USB connection can generate significant noise if connected to the computer.

 


Selecting Bonus Effects  

After pedal registration, the bonus effects are available for use. The bonus effects are selected with the Effect Type switch and indicated with a green LED (the bonus effects don’t have labels).

Golden Reverberator bonus effect

After registration, the Chamber & Plate 224 reverb is added to the pedal. To select this effect, push the Effect Type switch until the top LED is lit green.

Starlight Echo Station bonus effect

After registration, the Cooper Time Cube delay is added to the pedal. To select this effect, push the Effect Type switch until the top LED is lit green.

Astra Modulation Machine bonus effects

After registration the Phaser X90 and Dharma Trem 61 effects are added to the pedal. To select these effects, push the Effect Type switch until the top or middle LED is lit green.

Updating Your UAFX Pedal

UAFX pedal updates are installed with the UAFX Control desktop app for Mac/Windows. Connect the pedal’s USB-C port to your computer and start the UAFX Control software to check for available updates. Make sure the pedal is connected to 9VDC power (400 mA minimum).

Note: The pedal’s USB-C port can be connected to any type of USB port on the computer, but you may need an adapter.

  1. When an update is available for your pedal, the Update button appears.

  2. When an update is available, click the Update button to update your pedal’s firmware. Make sure that the pedal remains connected to 9VDC power, and connected via USB to your computer, while the update is in process.

  3. When the update is complete, the pedal shows that the latest update is installed.
