USB Safeguard is a setting within UAD Console that can be useful for alleviating playback issues such as pops, clicks, or beeps with your Apollo USB.
Before enabling USB Safeguard, we highly recommend that you configure your Windows system for use with your Apollo USB by following the directions in the article below:
Optimizing Windows for UA Devices
If you have fully optimized your system but are still experiencing artifacts in audio playback, then enabling USB Safeguard may improve audio performance on your system.
To locate the USB Safeguard setting:
- Open UAD Console
- Click SETTINGS button (bottom left)

Important: Stop WDM and ASIO playback before changing the USB Safeguard setting. Applications using audio may need to be relaunched after the setting is changed.
Note: Enabling USB Safeguard will add a small amount of latency to playback (Console input monitoring is not affected).
