How to Uninstall UAD Software on Windows 11

Uninstall UAD-2 Software

  1. Search and open Installed apps using the Start menu.
  2. Locate UAD Powered Plug-Ins and select Uninstall.
  3. Select Uninstall in the UAD Powered Plugins Installer.

Uninstall UAD Device Drivers

Uninstalling the UAD Software should automatically clear all related UAD driver entries in Device Manager. If they remain, follow the steps below to remove them. If they are not listed here, proceed to next step.

  1. Search and open Device Manager using the Start menu.
  2. Expand Audio DSP Accelerator and uninstall UAD-2 System Driver.
If necessary, repeat this step for any other UAD entries on this list.

Delete UAD Preference Files

The UAD preference files are used to save various settings and parameters in the software. Deleting the preference files is advised when troubleshooting an issue or when fully uninstalling the UAD software.

  1. Type %appdata% into the Start menu to open the folder location of UAD preference files.
This will navigate directly to the following file path: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming
  2. Locate and delete the Universal Audio folder.

Note: Saved UAD Console sessions are stored in the same location as the UAD preference files. To keep your saved UAD Console sessions, make sure to back up the Sessions folder inside the Universal Audio directory.

Reinstall the UAD Software

Download and re-install the current UAD Software. This can be found in the UA Connect app.

If you need to download an earlier version of UAD Software, please visit: UAD Software Archives

Important notes for installing UAD Software outside of UA Connect:

  • Links to earlier UAD Software are downloaded as a .zip file which contains UASetup.exe and a Data folder.
  • Do not run UASetup.exe directly from the .zip file.
  • Make sure to first extract the contents of the .zip file into a new folder on your desktop.
  • Do not extract the files onto an external drive, secondary drive, or a cloud storage location.
  • Make sure the Data folder is extracted into the same folder as UASetup.exe.
  • When running the extracted UASetup.exe file, right click and choose Run as administrator.
