General OX Stomp Questions

What is OX Stomp?

Standing on the shoulders of our award-winning OX Amp Top Box, OX Stomp Dynamic Speaker Emulator pedal gives "amp-in-a-box" modelers a packed pro studio full of authentic-sounding guitar cabinets, mics, room modeling, and studio-quality effects — right at your feet.

Where can I buy OX Stomp?

OX Stomp pedals can be purchased worldwide from authorized Universal Audio retailers

What makes OX Stomp unique?

Going far beyond the one-dimensional captures of Impulse Response systems, only UA’s groundbreaking Dynamic Speaker Modeling convincingly emulates speaker breakup, drive, and cone cry — providing harmonics and sonic complexity indistinguishable from a perfectly studio-mic'd speaker cabinet.

OX stomp also features studio-quality 1176 compression, plate reverb, individual mic EQ, master EQ, stereo delay effects, and modulation for perfectly produced tones.

Using OX Stomp

How and why would I use OX Stomp?

Place OX Stomp after amp modeling pedals from UA or a third party, turn off the speaker modeling in those pedals, then use OX Stomp for ultimate control over your cab, mics, room, compression, and other effects. Process any instrument-level or line-level input through OX stomp, with endless creative possibilities.

UAFX pedals are designed with enough headroom to easily accommodate instrument levels and amp effects loop levels, but they can also handle line-level gear such as synthesizers and audio interfaces. The pedals are voiced for instrument levels, so make sure that the line-out level of the gear you're connecting into the pedals is not overdriving the speaker modeling and effects.

OX stomp can provide an output for the live sound engineer which sounds like a studio-quality recording.  It's equally at home in recording applications, and the output of OX stomp can be connected to the Hi-Z input of an audio interface, or line input via a DI box.

Can I connect my tube or solid-state amplifier to OX stomp?

Do not connect an amplifier's speaker output directly to OX Stomp.
OX Stomp is not a load box. Do not connect any powered amplifier to the inputs.

To use a tube or solid-state amplifier with OX Stomp, a load box with a line-level output must be used.

Connect the amplifier’s speaker output into the load box, then connect the line out of the load box into OX Stomp.

OX Amp Top Box is a different type of product which is designed specifically to work with outputs from guitar amplifiers if you need that capability.

How do I connect OX Stomp to the rest of my rig?

All OX Stomp audio jacks accept 1/4" (6.35 mm) unbalanced TS (Tip-Sleeve) instrument cables. Although TRS (Tip-Ring-Sleeve) cables may be used, they offer no benefit over TS cables.

Generally, OX Stomp will be placed at the end of the effects chain, after the amplifier simulator (with its cab emulation turned off), and used as cabinet simulation.

More information is available in the OX Stomp manual, in the OX Stomp Connections section.

Note: OX Stomp is not a load box. Do not connect any powered amplifier to the inputs.

Does OX Stomp feature an attenuator?

No. Ox stomp does not have any attenuation capabilities. OX Amp Top Box is a different type of product which is designed specifically to work with outputs from guitar amplifiers if you need that capability.

Can I use UAFX Amp Emulator pedals with OX Stomp?

Yes! The UAFX Amp Emulator pedals such as Dream, Ruby and Woodrow can plug into the OX Stomp inputs; make sure to turn off their cabinet emulation so that OX Stomp can work its magic.

Can I use any "amp-in-a-box" pedal with OX Stomp?

Absolutely – as long as cabinet emulation can be disabled, you can plug its output(s) into the OX Stomp input(s) and use the cabinet emulations on the OX Stomp instead.

More information is available in the OX Stomp manual, in the OX Stomp Connections section.

What are OX Stomp power requirements?

Like other UAFX pedals, the OX Stomp requires an isolated power supply that can provide 9V (Volts) DC and a minimum of 400 mA (milliamps) of current.
