Q: I use my Apollo via Thunderbolt, but now I want to use it with a different computer via FireWire. Why is my Apollo not recognized via FireWire?
A: The FireWire ports of the Apollo are temporarily deactivated if Thunderbolt firmware is installed on the unit. If the Apollo was last used via Thunderbolt, then the FireWire firmware will need to be reloaded before the computer will recognize the Apollo via FireWire.
Since the FireWire ports of the Apollo are temporarily deactivated when the Thunderbolt firmware is installed, the only way to downgrade the firmware and reactivate the FireWire ports is via a Thunderbolt connection. See the steps below:
- Connect the Apollo via Thunderbolt to a compatible Mac or PC running UAD v9.0.0 or later.
- Open the UAD Meter & Control Panel application.
- In the UAD Meter, click the menu icon and select "Revert to FireWire connectivity..." from the list.
- When the firmware downgrade prompt appears, click LOAD and follow the directions to complete the process.
Once the firmware has been downgraded you can use your Apollo via FireWire.
