Apollo x16D Troubleshooting Quick Guide

In the event that you are experiencing issues connecting or using Apollo x16D with your computer, follow the steps in this troubleshooting guide. The guide is divided into three sections:

  1. Connectivity and WiFi
  2. Booting Sequence
  3. Renewing the DHCP Lease

Connectivity and WiFi

First, turn off WiFi, and make sure the x16D is connected to your Mac both via Ethernet and Thunderbolt.

The UAD Meter application will hang if the x16D does not receive an IP address on the Dante Brooklyn 3 card inside Apollo x16D when initially setting up the unit.

Once the firmware is updated, this should no longer be an issue, but it is advisable to keep the x16D Ethernet port connected to a computer or network switch.

Booting Sequence

Start with your computer and the Apollo off.

Power the computer first, allow it to boot fully. Then, power your Apollo x16D, and allow it to connect.

Leave the computer 5 minutes to ensure all background services have loaded before clicking Load Firmware, even if the prompt has already appeared.

There are two sets of firmware for the Apollo x16D:

  1. One for the Apollo itself
  2. Another for the Brooklyn 3 Dante chipset

If the Dante firmware does not load, this may indicate that either all the background services had not loaded and completed discovery, or that the network adapter need the DHCP lease to be renewed, explained in the next section.

Renewing the DHCP Lease

To renew the DHCP lease, follow these steps:

  1. Use the Spotlight Search bar to search for Network. This can be accessed by clicking the magnifying glass in the top right of your macOS desktop. You can also pull it up by pressing Command + Space bar on your keyboard:

  5. Once completed, provided there is no ongoing firmware update, you can power your Apollo off.
  6. Then, power the Apollo back on, and wait for it to connect. It will prompt you to update the firmware. Repeat this process and both the Apollo and the Dante firmware should update.
  7. Open Dante Controller and make sure your Apollo x16D is shown
  8. Finally, verify it is also detected in the UAD Meter Application and UAD Console.
