Volt Data Cable Guide

Learn what type of data cable you will need to connect Volt interfaces to Mac, Windows, and iOS systems using this handy guide.

Notes: Volt interfaces use the USB 2.0 specification. Cables should be 6.6ft (2m) or shorter for best connectivity and performance. Volt Gen2 and MAX interfaces have more than one USB port, and your computer connection should be connected to the host port.

All Volt interfaces are expected to work with USB hubs provided enough data thoughput and power is available. 

When troubleshooting, we'd recommend connecting Volt directly to the host computer.

Notes

• USB-C Digital AV Multiport Adapter or Lightning to USB Camera Adapter is required to charge mobile host devices and use Volt at the same time.
• USB 4 cables can be used with USB-C ports that have a USB 2.0 spec or higher.
• Thunderbolt 3 or 4 cables can be used with USB-C ports that have a USB 2.0 spec or higher.
• When connecting more than one Volt 876, a USB hub can be used.  The monitor unit will have a higher data requirement, and so we recommend connecting the main unit to the computer directly if any troubleshooting is required.
• Volt 4 Gen2, Volt 2 MAX, Volt 4 MAX, and Volt 4P MAX have a USB C port labelled 'hub'.
  You can use this for any device that you would normally connect to a USB hub such as a MIDI controller, keyboard, mouse, USB dongle, or external storage. It’s a great option to connect a Volt 876.
  The HUB port is USB 2.0 and provides 5VDC (500 mA) bus power. It’s important to consider that data throughput will be limited.
• All units can be bus powered, but the available power from a USB port may vary.
• Volt Gen2 & MAX interfaces feature an additional USB C input for power. 
  A PSU is supplied with Volt 4 MAX and Volt 4P MAX, but you can also use a standard USB charger.
  15W would be sufficient for all Volt Gen2 and MAX Models .
