Watch this short video to learn how to uninstall and reinstall the UA Connect software on MacOS in order to troubleshoot common issues.
Below are instructions on how to properly remove UA Connect from your system.
Note: Make sure to manually remove the UA Connect preference files and native UAD (UADx) plug-ins as described below before reinstalling UA Connect
1. Uninstall UA Connect
Quit UA Connect (if running) by clicking the UA Connect icon in the top menu bar and selecting “Quit UA Connect”
In macOS Finder, navigate to the Applications folder and drag UA Connect to the Trash
2. Delete UA Connect Preference Files
Navigate to Macintosh HD/Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/ and delete the file “com.uaudio.bsd.helper”
Navigate to Macintosh HD/Library/LaunchDaemons/ and delete the file “com.uaudio.bsd.helper.plist”
Open macOS Finder and press CMD+SHIFT+G on your keyboard to launch the “Go to the folder” search bar.
Type or copy and paste the following text ~/Library/Application Support/Universal Audio and press Go
Now drag the "UA Connect" folder to the trash:
3. Remove UADx Plug-Ins (optional)
If you intend to re-install UA Connect then it is not necessary to remove UADx plug-in files, however, if you wish to remove all UADx plug-ins from your system then you may delete them manually from the following locations:
Plugin Component Files:
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Universal Audio/Plug-Ins
AAX:
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Avid/Audio/Plug-Ins
AU:
Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components
VST3:
Macintosh HD/Library/Audio/Plug-ins/VST3
4. Reinstall UA Connect
After the UA Connect software has been uninstalled and the files mentioned above have been removed, you can download and re-install the latest version of UA Connect here
