FAQ: Using Auto-Gain with Apollo X Gen 2

With UAD v11.5.0, users can now quickly and automatically set a healthy gain value for one or multiple inputs at a time, without an engineer needing to twist knobs.

Key Features

  • Users can automatically set the preamp gain by engaging the Auto-Gain feature and performing an example of the sounds they wish to record.
  • Auto-Gain mode can adjust multiple input channels simultaneously, allowing users to potentially set the levels for the entire band at the same time.
  • Once engaged, the Auto-Gain feature will continue to “listen” to the selected input(s) until the user has generated enough sound for it to properly set the gain. Users don’t need to worry about setting measurement times or having to manually deactivate it.
  • Auto-Gain works in conjunction with a curated set of Unison plug-ins:
    • API Preamp
    • API Vision Channel Strip
    • API Vision Channel Strip Legacy
    • Neve Preamp
    • Neve 1073 Preamp & EQ
    • Neve 1084 Preamp & EQ
    • Neve 88RS Channel Strip
    • SSL 4000 E Channel Strip
