UA Mixer Engine is a component of the UAD Software that supports UAD Console and Apollo interfaces.
Apollo must be powered on and connected to computer when installing the UAD Software. If Apollo is not detected during this process, the UA Mixer Engine may get excluded. This may result in the following error message.

If you see this message when using Apollo, follow the steps below to troubleshoot.

- Connect Apollo and install the UAD Software

Notes:
- The UAD Software will exclude UA Mixer Engine for installations where no Apollo devices are involved and only DSP Accelerator products are used.
- UAD Console can not be used with DSP Accelerators or third-party audio interfaces.
Check System Requirements
Ensure your computer meets the System Requirements of your Apollo device.
If these requirements are not met, it can result in Unable to launch UA Mixer Engine because Apollo was not detected during the installation process of UAD Software.
Connect Apollo and Install the UAD Software
Make sure Apollo is connected to computer and powered ON before starting the UAD Software installation process.
Check the computer for active System Cleaner tools. Applications of this type can often interfere with the installation of software. Disable or uninstall them as necessary before installing the UAD Software.
Notes on System Cleaner Tools and UA Software
Next, download and install the UAD Software. This can be found in the UA Connect app.
You can verify the UAD Software is installed by launching the UAD Meter & Control Panel application. If there is a status message there, proceed to this troubleshooting guide.
Troubleshooting "Unable to launch UA Mixer Engine" in Windows
Open File Explorer and navigate to: C:\Program Files (x86)\Universal Audio\Powered Plugins
If UAMixerEngine is missing in this folder, try launching UATrayIcon with Apollo powered ON and connected to the PC.
If this does not resolve the issue:

- Perform the (Windows) UAD Uninstall / Reinstall Procedure.
- IMPORTANT: After uninstalling, be sure to Delete UAD Preference Files and check for any remaining UAD Device Drivers.
- Run the Microsoft Install + Uninstall Utility. Check to uninstall any leftover instances of UAD software. If there are multiple UAD entries, this tool may need to be ran multiple times. If there are no UAD entries to uninstall using this tool, proceed to next step.
- Reboot computer before re-installing one more time using the latest UAD software in UA Connect.

Perform the full UAD Uninstall / Reinstall Procedure (macOS) procedure.
Performing this procedure using a new admin user account in macOS can also help repair unique software issues.
How to create a new Admin user profile on macOS
Navigate to this pathname in macOS: /Library/Application Support/Universal Audio/Apollo
Manually launch UA Mixer Engine.
Go to macOS System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions and make sure the following entries from UA are allowed to run in background.
