When setting up Pro Tools with Apollo, the following will require close attention.
- I/O Setup of Pro Tools
- I/O Matrix of Console Settings
The channel routing between UAD Console and Pro Tools must match for all inputs and outputs. This is especially critical for Thunderbolt Apollo systems that use a Custom I/O Matrix in Console Settings.

Notes:
- The I/O Matrix is available only when using a Thunderbolt connection. For Apollo devices without Thunderbolt, see Driver I/O Tables in the Apollo Software Manuals.
- Pro Tools allows for a maximum of 64 inputs and 64 outputs when using Apollo hardware.
Resetting the Pro Tools I/O Setup
Reset the I/O Setup of Pro Tools to populate the current routing configuration from UAD Console into Pro Tools.
Important: When Custom changes are made in I/O Matrix of Console Settings, those changes will not reflect automatically in Pro Tools. Follow the process below to Reset the I/O Setup of Pro Tools.
- Make sure Apollo is selected under Playback Engine of Pro Tools using the Universal Audio driver.
- Visit Avid's Knowledge Base article on How to Reset the I/O Settings in Pro Tools.
- Be sure to repeat for Input, Output, and Bus sections of the I/O Setup if necessary.
Note: If additional changes are made in the I/O Matrix of Console Settings after this process, the I/O Setup of Pro Tools must be reset or re-configured again to reflect those changes.
